Saudites d'Ontinyent
A bit of history...
It was founded in 1967 by members of the Mozarab troupe. Its members included “the maestro”, José María Ferrero, who dedicated the Moorish march “Saudites” to the troupe.
The original attire has hardly changed, with its stately gesture faithfully imitating that of the Arabs and Bedouins of the desert, as well as its elegance and austerity. In 1981 the colours of the coat were changed from ivory and gold to gold and black, while maintaining the white tunic with gold trim and the original Saudi turban.
Everyday clothing consists of a grey djellaba with a red cord, the same colour as the Fez hat.
