Taifas

In 1975, two groups of festival-goers from the Marineros and Saudites comparsas decided to take on the challenge of founding a new, young and dynamic comparsa: TAIFAS. Fernando Cambra was in charge of designing the comparsa's formal attire.

The costume consists of a blue and white turban, a blue tunic embroidered in gold, a white cloak also embroidered in gold, a sash in blue, white and gold, blue slippers and white socks. The daily wear consists of a sky blue djellaba and blue slippers, a blue fez hat and a leather bag.

It was the summer of 1976 when the comparsa was born at the Moors and Christians festival in Ontinyent, and since then we have performed in three Captaincies and two Embassies.

Also worth mentioning are the two Moorish marches dedicated to the comparsa: Opus 14 by Rafael Benavent Maiques and Taifes 98 by Daniel J. Ferrero Silvage on the occasion of that year's captaincy.

In 2014, Taifa Saül Gómez i Soler dedicated the “Trakelterry” march to the squad of the same name and to which he belongs.

In 2017 they premiered the Moorish march “Siltai”, a work by Saül Gómez i Soler, dedicated to the First Tro of that year Silvia Soler.
